About 1% of Utahn's know the date the Golden Spike was driven. We conducted a survey of 300 people and asked if they could name the date the Golden Spike was driven and about 1% could accurately name May 10, 1869. (Five percent correctly answered the test question by identifying Gary Herbert as the Lt. Governor of Utah.)
We'll post 30-sheet posters over the state of Utah for 60 days and then survey again to see how many more Utahn's can accurately recall the Golden Spike date. We expect the number will rise while the percentage who can name the Lt. Governor won't change much.
